ARC FLASH MITIGATION PANEL
New NEC codes (240.87), NFPA codes (70) and OSHA regulations require arc flash mitigation on any new gear installed. Existing switchgear and large transformers typically do not have arc flash mitigation, making the gear susceptible to an arc flash. Arc Flash incidents can be costly and in worse case scenarios, can be deadly, making it critical to have detection in place.
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT OUR ARC FLASH MITIGATION PANEL?
Using the Littelfuse AF0500 microprocessor-based arc-flash protection relay, arc-fault damage is limited by detecting the light from an arc flash and rapidly tripping the feeder breaker. This relay is designed and packaged in an Easter-Owens UL Listed cabinet and can be mounted to existing gear as a retrofit or can be utilized in new gear as well. The unit is well suited for switchgear, transformer, motor controls center and power converter applications. Sensors, inputs, and connections are health monitored to ensure fail-safe operation. The Littelfuse PGR-8800 or AF0500 are UL and cUL Listed Arc-Flash Relays that reliably detect developing Arc-Flash incidents without nuisance tripping by sensing a combination of arc light and increasing current. This unit was designed to be “Plug and Play” and fully custom configurations are available upon request. Programming and commissioning of the unit is available in addition. No adjustments or settings required during maintenance operations, making the unit viable 24/7.
